For me, Tai Chi Gung has been such a rewarding journey into regeneration and spiritual perception. It's sacred to feel the roots of this system that is connected to the ancient Siddha Yoga Masters. It has been called Simple Yoga, but the movements have a profound effect. It truly can turn back the hands of time - I regained my original height after only 18 months of practice! The quality of every aspect of my life has improved. Even talents that died & were buried are resurrecting, showing me that they have value and want to be alive in me and expressed in the world. It is an extraordinary inner journey that can't help but reflect outwards. It gently clears away what is useless and unproductive, as one uncovers hidden treasures of experiencing Chi. It would be an honor, and I would love to share, this ancient divine art of Tai' Chi Gung and serve as a guide for you. |
My first love in life was dance. At 13 I was an apprentice in the Detroit City Ballet, but a profound spiritual experience created a deep yearning in me to learn the 'Internal Dance' which lead me towards a mystical direction. It was a difficult path to navigate alone so young, but I found my teachers through books, my dream world, my 3 best friends, and the inner exploration of my connection to the Divine.
In 1978 I studied macrobiotics with Michio Kushi. Macrobiotic philosophy focuses on maintaining the balance of Yin and Yang in all aspects of life. I explored this through cooking, Do-In and shiatsu massage. He also taught me breathing exercises to regulate the body's energy, one that even kept me from going into hypothermia on two occasions. I opened a natural foods restaurant with friends in 1980 that still existed until the 'pandemic' that ruined so many small businesses.
In the late 80's I went to my first Tai Chi class and since then I continued to cultivate my inner practice through meditation, dance, qigong & other internal arts. I have had many extraordinary teachers along the way. And now exploring the ancient art of Tai Chi Gung has opened my world up in such a powerful way!
Since then I have been on this most beautiful, rewarding and transformative journey that has drawn me in to teach. I am a Certified Group Class Instructor & Certified to Privately Teach Students by the Lamasery, as I continue training with Master Lama Rasaji and Master David Paul.

taking class with Ramona Leela...
Ramona Leela is an extremely skillful tai chi gung practitioner and teacher. Her energy is warm and genuine, and at the same time she possesses a warrior-like strength, the perfect yin-yang combination. I really enjoy going to her class, as the practice extends beyond the physical movements. I always leave class feeling confident, clear-headed and calm. She inspires and empowers us to develop our own individual practice, and to connect to ourselves and those around us with intention. Laura |
Ramona Leela is an excellent teacher of Tai Chi Gung. Grounded in gentle and powerful spirit, she translates the language of chi by effectively guiding her students in the movements of harnessing energy. A large part of her success is due to the deep cultivation of her own practice, as well as an innate leadership within. This is evident in the graceful grounded way in which she navigates movement and life. One look at her posture and stance and one is able to ascertain her dedication to spirit. Acting as a conduit, she silently transmutes energy to students while guiding them through the physical practice. The result; a student who comes to understand the movement and flow of chi from a deeper understanding of a person solidly rooted in that energy.
Once, during class, I felt as if my feet were so deeply grounded they were leaving indentations in the concrete tile floor! I even lifted my feet to look underneath and make sure I hadn’t damaged the stone. The feeling was that powerful! All this from simply standing and going through the movements! When I leave class, life is pulsating through me, my surrounding environment radiating with energy! Come to class and see for yourself. The results are beyond words. After all, that’s energy for you. My experience with Tai Chi Gung has been a very satisfying one. I have done both Tai Chi and Chi Gong in the past. Having Leela as a teacher has made a difference in me continuing to practice. She has a wonderful way of explaining what the movements are and why we are doing them. Her calm manner and her great enthusiasm make it a pleasure to practice.
I have found for myself that with consistency the energy in my legs is greater. I am able to bend my knees with less pain and my ankles are more flexible. Over all, my energy, as well as balance is greater. I shall continue. Thank you, Leela.💕 Robin |
Ramona Leela's descriptions of some of our Tai Chi Gung exercises, especially during our 'Crane' exercise, when she says "spread your arms and hands elegantly upward and imagine that you are like a crane about to take off in flight", make me realize that the original Tai Chi Gung masters observed the movements of animals and also incorporated them into their exercises to enable our bodies to regain their natural movements. Her classes are truly inspiring and uplifting and always make me feel good!!! Kaipo |
I am so glad to have met Ramona Leela and to have been introduced to Tai Chi Gung. My first observation and impression is that Ramona Leela herself is the embodiment of the beautiful flow and gentle power of Chi. In each session, as my body learns the movement, I can feel the flow of energy and can surrender to it’s regenerating qualities. I am starting to experience some carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms in my hands, however during and after sessions they are greatly reduced. I feel it is a practice that can benefit both the physical and etheric parts of our bodies. I recommend it for anyone wanting to strengthen all parts of their beings. Charles |
